Position Overview
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Accountant to join their team in Connecticut. This role is pivotal for managing and overseeing financial operations within a manufacturing or construction environment. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in cost accounting, project-based accounting, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations including job costing, inventory accounting, and WIP (Work-In-Progress) schedules.
- Prepare and maintain job cost reports, variance analysis, and project margin tracking to ensure compliance with financial standards.
- Conduct detailed billings vs. costs analysis and construction contract compliance assessments.
- Participate in audits, including job site/project audits, ensuring adherence to internal controls.
- Utilize ERP/accounting systems to manage financial data and generate reports.
- Support project-based accounting, including revenue recognition under the percentage-of-completion method.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance financial processes and systems for efficiency.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field (required).
- CPA certification (preferred; in progress acceptable).
- Knowledge of construction-specific accounting standards and cost accounting principles (strongly preferred).
Experience
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing and/or construction environment.
- Hands-on experience with job costing, inventory accounting, and WIP schedules.
- Exposure to project-based accounting, including revenue recognition under the percentage-of-completion method.
- Prior involvement in audits, including job site/project audits and internal controls.
Required Work Hours
Monday to Friday, during the 1st shift.

Additional Details
Salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $100,000.
